Hertha BSC has apparently found Felix Magath’s successor. According to a report from “Kicker”, Sandro Schwarz is to become the new coach of the Bundesliga club. The native Mainz last worked in the Bundesliga three years ago.

Sandro Schwarz becomes new coach of Hertha BSC. It informs the trade magazine “Kicker” Thursday night. Most recently, Hertha manager Fredi Bobic announced that there were already extensive discussions with a new coach. Now the capital club has apparently agreed with Schwarz on a commitment as head coach.

Initially, Hertha BSC did not want to officially confirm the signing of the new coach when asked by rbb | 24.

Black is still competing in the Russian Cup final

Schwarz, who is currently still in Russia, will compete in the Russian Cup final against city rivals Spartak with Dynamo Moscow on Sunday afternoon. Then he had to cancel his contract there, which runs until 2024, writes the “kicker”. Hertha’s interest in Schwarz was already announced in early May. Now both sides seem to have reached an agreement.

In the coming week, Schwarz was to arrive in Berlin and be presented there as the new Hertha coach. Schwarz took over Dynamo Moscow in October 2020 and finished in third place in the Russian Premier League with the club last season, the eleven-time Soviet champions’ best finish in a decade.

Black would also have come in the 2nd division

Before Schwarz moved to Russia, the native Mainz worked for FSV Mainz 05 as head coach of the Bundesliga from 2017 to 2019. After a negative series of only nine points from the first eleven Bundesliga matches, he was released from his duties on November 10, 2019 .

According to “Kicker” information, Schwarz, who was also a candidate at Schalke recently, would have come to Berlin even if Hertha had been relegated. There was a basic agreement for both scenarios, reports the football magazine. Schwarz assistant coach Volkan Bulut and video analyst Daniel Fischer will follow from Moscow to Berlin. Another assistant coach may need to be hired

In addition to coach Felix Magath, his assistant Mark Fotheringham and athletics coach Werner Leuthard from Berlin said goodbye earlier this week. Goalkeeping coach Andreas Menger and offensive coach Vedad Ibisevic will continue to be part of Hertha’s coaching team.
