Tennis in a netball club :: First NBV ladies achieve triple: Third victory in third match

Velbert, 23 May 2022. The first NBV ladies have had a great start to the season on the red ash. After the opening successes in the Niederrheinligaen against TC Rheinstadion with 5: 4 and against Blau Schwarz Düsseldorf with 7: 2, the women achieved the triple success against Sportpark Moers-Asberg with 6: 3 on Saturday.

The women’s team started without their Spanish number one Marina Bassols, but with the newly acquired Shura Poppe. The 24-year-old Dutch player has played for his American collegiate team in Tulsa, Oklahoma for the past few months, but now plays for the netball club.
In second place, she competed against her compatriot Daphne van de Heuwel, but lost 6: 7, 3: 6 after an exciting match.

Cindy Burger took the lead this time. The Dutchman, who has served for NBV for many years, won his singles match 6: 1, 6: 0 against Britt Schreuder from the Netherlands.

Anna Schubries also delivered a strong performance: she won her match 6: 4, 6: 3. Likewise Bernice van de Velde, who landed a 6: 1, 6: 0 victory.

Lauren Wagenaar was able to contribute another point in sixth place with a 6: 2, 6: 3 victory. In fifth place, Ana Sovilj lost 1: 6 and 5: 7.

The NBV ladies went into the doubles round with a comfortable 4: 2 lead. Here Shura Poppe also achieved his first victory for his NBV team together with Anna Schubries. In the first double, they won 6: 4, 6: 4.

In the second double, Cindy Burger and Bernice van de Velde even missed their opponents by 6: 0, 6: 0.

The third double with Lauren Wagenaar and Evelyn Altmaier lost 4: 6, 4: 6. The overall victory, however, went to the NBV ladies with 6: 3.

Next Saturday, the Netzballer will play at TC Bredeney, which has two wins and one defeat so far. “Here, our team’s chances of winning are closely linked to the formation of the Essen team. TC Bredeney can fall back on a Bundesliga squad and use high-class professional players if necessary, says NBV sports director Mark Höhfeld.

The first NBV men in the first association league showed great fighting spirit in the outdoor duel against strong TC Blau Weiß Neuss. NBVs were able to win two singles and one in doubles: NBV head coach Mark Joachim won his match in second place 6: 2, 7: 5 and Tim van den Dijssel in fourth place clearly 6: 1, 6: 2. In third place, Fyn Franke narrowly lost his game with 2: 6, 7: 5 and 5:10 in match tie break.

After the 2: 4 deficit, Mark Joachim and Louis Kaun got another point in the first double with 6: 3, 6: 4. The other two doubles were both very close: Fyn Franke and Oliver Bodenröder lost 2: 6, 6: 7 and van den Dijssel with Laurin Knoke 4: 6, 6: 3 and 9:11. “It was an unfortunate defeat,” Louis Kaun laments. Together with his team, however, he expects a chance to win the next match at home next Saturday against the team from Blau Weiß Kamp-Lintfort, who like the Netzballer is still without a win.

The men 50 were able to bring their second victory in the second match of the first league league. After the 6: 3 victory against Rochusclub Düsseldorf last week, the 50s again had success in Blau Weiß Bottrop. Frank Wagenaar, Mark Höhfeld, Mike Kessels and Axel Pickshaus scored the individual points for a 4: 2 lead. The doubles were split 2-1 to NBV as Bottrop was unable to create three more doubles due to injuries. Next Saturday, the well-wishers will meet the current table leaders Düsseldorfer TC in a home game, which, however, has already played one game more than table rope NBV.

The women 40, who were newly founded last year, achieved a 9: 0 victory in district class B at Solingen TB. High victories in two sets went to Katja Wolters, Diana Eick, Petra Groß, Katrin Heck, Annika Schoch and Silke Pöppelmann. In the doubles, Kerstin Rübener with Schoch, Heck with Daphne Kitschen and Tanja Eick with Cornelia Könkler increased the lead of 6: 0 to an overall victory of 9: 0.

One of the youngest teams in the netball club did not lose a point either: the U12 girls Marlen Höfner, Lisa Bischoff, Amelie Schumacher, Emma Groß and Nyla Schultes won 6-0 in the district league at Rot Weiß Remscheid. The girls had won their first meeting at Stadtwald Hilden 6-0.
