Stefanos Tsitsipas comes from a very athletic family. His father, Apostolos, is a tennis coach and has cared for his son since he was three years old. His mother is of Russian descent and a former WTA player. Stefanos Tsitsipas’ two brothers and sister – Petros, Pavlos and Elisavet – also play tennis at Nice Tennis Academy. Stefanos Tsitsipas played his first tournaments on the ITF Junior Tour and on the Orange Bowl. He was a finalist in this important international tennis competition in 2014 and 2015. Shortly after, he made his successful debut at the Junior Grand Slam tournaments. He reached quarterfinals and semifinals several times and caught the attention of the tennis world. Just before he was promoted to the professional league, he was at the top of the junior world rankings. In 2016, he participated in the ATP Challenger Tour. By that time, he already had four Futures singles titles and 14 fight wins in a row. After two more matches where he reached the final, he climbed into the top 200.

This was followed by a couple of defeats until the tennis player finally won his first Challenger title in Genoa in 2017. This jumped him to rank 120. He played his way into the main draw in the next five tournaments on the World Tour. He finished the year in a 91st place. Due to this good placement, Stefanos Tsitsipas was able to regularly attend World Tour events in 2018. At the Masters in Toronto, he won over four players from the top ten.

The year 2019 started with the Grand Slam in Melbourne, where the tennis pro reached the semi-finals. Thereafter, his performance declined until the end of the year. In April, he won his first Masters 1000 tournament and reached the final of the French Open. This makes him the first Greek to reach a Grand Slam final.
