Baltic Lagoon Resort: Investor from Stralsund builds a luxury holiday town in Fuhlendorf – this is what it will look like
Stralsund / Fuhlendorf.Fuhlendorf is flourishing. For almost a year, the investor duo Frank Thiele, architect from Leipzig, and Guido Krüger, manager of Stralsund Möbelwerke, have been building a resort in the quiet town near Vinetastadt Barth, which will clearly revive the southern Bodden coast as a new oasis of well-being in the coming months will.

Among other things, three multi-storey properties will be built with a total of about 30 apartments of about 13,000 square meters, all of which offer a view of Bodden. They are to be supplemented with eight holiday homes in Swedish house style, each with two holiday apartments. A total capacity of around 130 beds is assumed. The former holiday hotel Café Redensee is located in the center of the Baltic Lagoon Resort. After the reunification, the popular excursion destination lay fallow for a long time – and degenerated into an eye socket in the region. But the two investors who together make up the management of TMP Planungsgesellschaft mbH are now breathing new life into the property through their company.

The ruin has long since given way to a larger construction site. While the cottages will not be ready until the end of 2022, there is a long way to go before the redevelopment of Café Redensee. The first guests are to be served on the spacious terrace as early as June. The upcoming chef and restaurant manager is ready – and is already looking forward to the start of the season. Investors took up historic structures during the reconstruction. The construction team made a small coup: “We wanted to keep the cladding of the old pillars. The problem: The old tiles are no longer made today. But we were lucky and found a seller on Ebay, ”says Birger Kuhls from Stralsund, site manager at the construction site Baltic Lagoon. One can be curious about the result – it is a nice reminiscence from the past.

With the resort, investors are looking for a holistic approach to ensure special holiday experiences around the small beach. “My favorite is the little beach bar,” says investor Guido Krüger. This one will probably bear the sonorous name “Bernstein”. There is also a wellness area with sauna area and gym. “There we would also like to offer courses like pilates and yoga,” says Krüger.
Baltic Active: Explore the West Pomeranian Bodden landscape from the water
But there is also entertainment on and by the water, which not only caters to holidaymakers. Fishing trips, rental of SUP boards (stand-up paddling) and kayak trips through the western Pomeranian lagoon landscape are planned under the Baltic Active brand. For the kayak trips, a collaboration has been entered into with Sundpadlerne, which already offers “city trips in a kayak perspective” in Stralsund. If you want to explore the water without your own muscle power, you can also just hire your personal skipper and let yourself sail across the bay in a motorboat – a Finnish bowrider – with 23 knots. The two experienced boatmen offer, among other things, romantic evening trips or discovery trips for the whole family from Bodstedter Hafen.
“The resort makes the whole region more attractive,” said Friedrich-Carl Hellwig, mayor of Barth
“What is currently being built here has long been wanted in the region and fits perfectly into this location,” said Friedrich-Carl Hellwig, mayor of the city of Barth. “The first investor in the neighborhood was very brave with the cottages. When they finished, it was clear to me that Redensee also had a future again. ” For Hellwig, the project makes the entire Bodden area more attractive. “It’s more than a restoration,” he says. “What is being created in Fuhlendorf is a revival of a super new quality.”

Hellwig still remembers the time before construction started. “The café was not to be seen. It was completely overgrown. A tragic story. After the reunification, a shop steward was interested, who simply did nothing. ” After that, it was a speculative object for quite some time – until the investor duo around Möbelwerke boss Guido Kürger discovered the area. “It’s coming back as I know it from the past.”
“My regulars are looking forward to the new offer”, Thomas Sievert, holiday home owner from Fuhlendorf
In the immediate vicinity, people are happy that the “devastating Redensee” will soon be presentable again – and will accommodate guests. Thomas Sievert, CEO of Relamare GmbH, rents out about 50 thatched cottages in the immediate vicinity. “We have really, really many regulars. They still know the old state. They look forward to something new being created there. ” He sees a number of benefits at Fuhlendorf. “Guests can then go out and eat here in Fuhlendorf in the evening, overlooking Bodden.” There are not many such options at the moment. That is why Sievert says: “It is a win for the whole city. When the beach bar is ready, I will also enjoy a beer there at the end of the day. ”
