Three federal states exempt people from 2-G-Plus with boosters

WIf it has already been boosted, it will be exempted from the obligation to test in Lower Saxony, Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate from Saturday. The Ministry of Social Affairs in Hanover announced on Friday that people who had been vaccinated against Corona three times could then visit facilities with a 2G-Plus rule without a test. You do not need “another test for your visit to a restaurant or when you walk into a gym, for example,” explained the Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, Malu Dreyer (SPD).

“People who have already been boosted no longer need to present a current negative corona test, no matter where the 2-G-Plus rule applies – for example, at restaurants, in zoos or at leisure and cultural events,” the leader said by the Ministry of Health of Baden-Württemberg, Uwe Lahl, in Stuttgart. Evidence of vaccinations is sufficient in the three federal states.

In the Rhineland-Palatinate and Baden-Württemberg, the amended Corona Regulation will enter into force on Saturday. The Lower Saxony regulation is to be amended from next week, but the abolition of the test obligation for those who have been vaccinated three times must be implemented from Saturday. Under the current regulation, breaches of the test obligation by boosters are tolerated until the amended rule enters into force.

New austerity in Baden-Württemberg

Lower Saxony is responding to results that the risk of infection and transmission after three vaccinations is “extremely low”. In addition, the new regulation will help to relieve “the widely used test capacities”. “Booster vaccination increases vaccination protection enormously,” Dreyer explained. In Rhineland-Palatinate, the 2-G-Plus rule will apply across the board from the weekend. In Lower Saxony, it has been in force in many places since Wednesday.

In Baden-Württemberg, as in other federal states, a number of austerity rules enter into force with the new regulation. For sporting and cultural events, there is an upper limit of 750 people in the current nationwide alarm level II – which currently corresponds to ghost matches in the Bundesliga, for example. For gastronomy, including hotel gastronomy, 2-G-Plus generally applies from Saturday, except for the exception for boosters, Christmas markets that are still open, clubs and discos will be closed.

Congested laboratories: RKI fears falsified figures

After a brief interruption, the nationwide seven-day incidence of new corona infections has risen again. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Friday morning, the value rose to 442.1. As RKI further reported, citing data from the health authorities, 74,352 new infections were registered within 24 hours. Germany has thus exceeded the number of six million registered infections. Since the onset of the pandemic, health authorities have reported 6,051,560 cases.

The institute put the number of people in Germany who had recovered from a disease caused by coronavirus at around 5,023,200. It is also a new highlight. The total number of corona deaths in Germany increased by 390 to 102,568.

The seven-day incidence indicates the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week. Since the beginning of November, the value has risen rapidly. As a result, new heights were recorded daily. On Tuesday, RKI then reported a drop in incidence for the first time in more than three weeks. On Thursday, it was down from 452.4 to 439.2.

The sharp rise in the last few weeks has not continued, RKI writes in its weekly report published on Thursday. This could be a first indication of a “slightly weakening dynamic in the transmission process due to the significantly intensified measures to reduce the contact”. However, it is also possible that the regional capacity in the public health service and in the laboratories has been exhausted. This would mean that not all cases may be detected or recorded, and the numbers are actually higher. In light of current developments, there will be more serious illnesses and deaths, the authority fears.

Because the number of PCR tests performed and the need for sequencing increase every week and is a burden on the laboratories, RKI also calls for “a prioritization of the use of PCR tests in accordance with the national testing strategy”. Depending on regional availability, the use of the tests should be critically examined and, if necessary, limited, eg by the desired reduction of the quarantine period for contacts and by stripping. Depending on the situation, high quality antigen testing could be used instead.

By November 18, the federal and state governments had defined the so-called hospitalization rate as the crucial benchmark for tightening corona measures. This value indicates how many people per. 100,000 inhabitants hospitalized within seven days due to a corona infection.

From a value of three, the 2G rule applies to events across the board in a federal state. This means that only those who have been vaccinated against coronavirus and those who have recovered from Covid-19 will be admitted. According to RKI, the frequency of hospitalizations nationwide on Wednesday was 5.47.
