The M-net company, which is operated in Augsburg, is no exception: since the first event in 2012, a total of more than 140,000 euros have been donated in this way. All donations go to a local school

Since the end of last year, as part of the M-net company’s charity campaign run in Augsburg, the application process has been used to search for valuable projects. Based on the project applications received, the team from the km sports agency led by Katja Mayer, owner of the agency and initiator of the company race, has now chosen the recipient of the donation: the total donation amount of over 5,000 euros goes to Chapel Middle School in Augsburg. The Augsburg-Oberhausen Middle School has more than 500 students from 28 nationalities in 5th to 10th grade. To grow together as a community and to develop a sense of togetherness beyond everyday school life, incentives and a suitable environment beyond the classroom are needed.

The outside area of the school is hardly usable due to decay

The school building has only two small gyms and a mini football pitch. The city of Augsburg could not keep the spring pit and the running track for economic reasons – they are no longer usable due to strong moss growth. The school’s own basketball court is just as inaccessible: it has stood still for ten years and is fenced off for safety reasons. The climbing frame on the school’s small playground also had to be disassembled for age reasons.

Ideas and concepts for the new outdoor area are underway

The team at the chapel intermediate school, led by principal Angelika Bayer, teaches Nina Kempf and Brigitte Lehenberger as a representative of the folk high school, is therefore becoming active and is already working with great commitment to collect ideas for redesign of the outdoor areas and the building. models together with the students. With Gertrud Szugat from Friedberg, an external landscape gardener was involved, who, based on the many ideas, developed an overall concept and gathered them into similar plans.

Funding for the basketball hoop area covered by donations

The plan is to use the donations from the M-net company to fund a new basketball hoop area. The cost of this sub-area is around 5,000 euros and can therefore be easily represented with the company-run funds. “We are excited to be able to support such a valuable project with the M-net Augsburg company race!” said Katja Mayer from km Sport-Agentur. “In the last few weeks and months, we have received several great project applications. We would have liked to have supported all projects, but unfortunately this is not possible. We are impressed by the ideas and the preparatory work that has already flowed into the project from the chapel middle school community and believe that with our donations we make an urgently needed contribution to the design of attractive sports and leisure. areas for students. We can only recommend to everyone who unfortunately could not be selected this year: Apply again next year! We will continue our charity campaign also in 2023! ” In total, more than 50,000 euros are expected to be spent on the entire renovation of the open spaces at the school.
