Max Verstappen overtakes Charles Leclerc

(Motorsport-Total.com) – Max Verstappen, Driver of the Year 2021, also hit the mark in Miami after his overall victory in Imola, taking the maximum 25 points for the annual rankings and thus closing his gap to leader Charles Leclerc to just reduced five points.

Because third place George Russell is already 49 points behind Leclerc, the battle for the Motorsport-Total.com Award 2022 is just as likely a duel between the spearheads of Ferrari and Red Bull as it is in the real world championship.

Motorsport-Total.com expert Marc Surer has given Miami a rating of three times three times: in addition to Leclerc (“His car was just too slow on the stretch”) and Verstappen also to Williams driver Alexander Albon, who finished the race in tenth place and in was third in the grades.

Albon is “a great replacement for Russell at Williams,” Surer says. The Thais relegated Mercedes duo Lewis Hamilton and George Russell to fifth and sixth place in the Miami standings. On the field, Russell finished ahead of Hamilton; according to Surer, but primarily because he “hated luck again with the safety car”.

that The idea behind our grading is to evaluate the performance on a weekend and especially during grades (1 = very good, 6 = unsatisfactory). External influences that drivers cannot control themselves should be ignored. And so that not only the editorial staff has to make a subjective assessment, as is the case with football magazines, we have created a total of three equal columns with the readers and the experts.

And this is how we calculate:
We determine the average based on the average rating of the Motorsport-Total.com users, the rating of the expert Marc Surer and the rating of our editors. Our driver ranking is the result of this average value. We only show one decimal, but we use all decimals for the calculation. These decimals, some of which are not visible, determine the order in which two drivers are ranked if they have the same rating.
