Liverpool FC make a mistake in the title match with Man City

CThe Champions League finalists, Liverpool FC, may have made a crucial mistake in the Premier League title. The team of German team manager Jürgen Klopp did not get better than 1-1 (0-0) against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday night – Manchester City can thus draw three games before the end of the season to a three-point lead.

Spurs striker Heung-Min Son (59th minute) tore the red fans out of their Champions League dreams four days after reaching the final. Luis Diaz (74th) still managed to equalize, so far Liverpool are leading with the same number of points. Man City, who failed spectacularly against Real Madrid in the semi-final of the top class, welcome Newcastle United on Sunday (17:30 on Sky).

Chelsea got a little out of step on the final meters of the season. The English club coached by Thomas Tuchel did not get past the Wolverhampton Wanderers after a two-goal lead of 2: 2 (0: 0), and after three games in a row without a win, they still do not qualify for the Champions League Pocket.

Manchester United, on the other hand, have played their last mathematical chance for the best class away. Ralf Rangnick’s team fell 0: 4 (0: 1) in Brighton & Hove Albion and can at best still qualify for the Europa League. Rangnick, who will be responsible for the Austrian national team in the future, has only won 11 of his 28 matches as United manager.

Watford FC is the second relegation club after Norwich City. The former club of pop icon Elton John can no longer reach the savings bank after 0: 1 (0: 1) in Crystal Palace with three games left.

Romelu Lukaku (56th / penalty, 58th) had brought Chelsea, who are still number three in the table, to the front. Trincao (79 ‘) and Conor Coady (90’ + 7 ‘) spoiled what was actually a very positive Saturday for the Blues, with Timo Werner and Antonio Rüdiger in starting XI and Kai Havertz coming in as a replacement.

Subject to approvals from the Premier League and the British government, the big club from London will go to an investor group led by US entrepreneur Todd Boehly for 4.25 billion pounds (about five billion euros), who watched the match against Wolverhampton in the stadium. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich’s assets were frozen in the wake of Russia’s offensive war in Ukraine.
