This week, Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon and his wife Mette-Marit visit Stockholm. The visit to Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel is far more than a must.
The Royal “Fab Four” – it was once for a moment the British, Prince William, Duchess Kate, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan. As you know, the relationship between Cambridges and Sussexes is down to earth, the two brothers are said to hardly talk to each other.
In Northern Europe, however, completely different blue-blooded “Fab Four” have established themselves – and with this “dream team” of the monarchy, everything seems like sunshine: Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel are close friends with Norway’s Crown Prince couple Haakon and Mette-Marit. This week, the Norwegians visit the Swedes in Stockholm.
Mette-Marit and Haakon live in the guest room
According to a royal portal, Victoria and Daniel have accommodated their Norwegian guests in their own home, Haga Castle. When you look at the four for their official agreements in Stockholm, you almost automatically think of Abba, another export hit from the far north. The two couples smile at the cameras in a good mood. Apparently, they are sincerely happy to spend time together.
Read from our offer: Victoria of Sweden goes for vintage
The royal families from Sweden and Norway have been close friends for a long time. Until 1905, the Swedish king even sat on the Norwegian throne in a personal union. They are also related by marriage: Crown Prince Haakon’s grandmother Märtha was a Swedish princess.
They even vacation together
The friendship between the young royals in the two countries is more than a state plot: Haakon and Victoria, who are only four years old, have known each other since childhood and are very happy for each other. Mette-Marit and Victoria get out of it really well. Sweden’s Crown Princess is the godmother of Princess Ingrid Alexandra, Haakon and Mette-Marit’s 18-year-old daughter. The Swedes, in turn, chose Crown Prince Haakon as sponsors for their daughter, ten-year-old Estelle. The families sometimes go on holiday together and then post pictures showing them hiking in casual casual wear.
And clothes can even be exchanged back and forth between the two royal houses: Princess Estelle recently wore a coat worn by Ingrid Alexandra of Norway almost ten years ago – but there was official confirmation that it was not one and the same piece of clothing .
The Norwegians ‘current visit is also about harmony – even fashionable: If you look at the crown princesses’ outfits, you might think that Victoria and Mette-Marit would have coordinated their color choices. On the first day of the trip, both princesses wore cream-colored dresses with a delicate pattern, and they arrived at the reception at the Norwegian embassy in cobalt blue.
Haakon and Victoria have a lot in common
Haakon and Victoria have much in common: Both already take on many representative duties from their fathers, King Harald V and Carl XVI. gustaf Both were carefully prepared for their roles as future monarchs. However, both also want to make their own mark and are involved, for example, in environmental protection and combating climate change. And last but not least, the love was not made easy for any of them: Fitness center owner Daniel is initially said to have appeared simple and provincial to many at the Swedish court. And the party girl Mette-Marit even had to give up her wild life at a press conference before she was allowed to marry the Norwegian Crown Prince.
It is safe to assume that relations between Stockholm and Oslo will remain close when the young royals take over. “I would say that Sweden and Norway are the best neighbors in the world,” Crown Prince Haakon said in a speech he now gave in Stockholm. “I think the most important thing is that we understand each other. We share a strong community of values and interests. We work together without problems. ”
