Marc Márquez (Honda / 15.): “Good and important day” / MotoGP

Repsol Honda star Marc Márquez finished 15th in Monday’s MotoGP test in Jerez. The Spaniard was pleased with the progress. Teammate Pol Espargaró was also able to test many things, finishing as number 5.

Marc Márquez drove a total of 60 laps at the Circuito de Jerez on Monday in the one-day test in the MotoGP class. The Honda Work driver set the best lap time of 1: 37.940 min. The Spaniard, who finished fourth at the Spanish GP on Sunday, concentrated on working on the aerodynamics of the RC213V.

The eight-time world champion worked on three bikes in his garage, one of which even had the 2021 Honda hood installed. “It was a good and important day and we were able to try a few things. As always, some things worked, others were quite disappointing. We tried a few different aerodynamic packages,” the 29-year-old confirmed.

“It was important to understand how they would work on the shorter and tighter tracks, because in the pre-season we always drove on the big tracks like Sepang and Mandalika. We were able to gather a lot of information, but we have to continue to work, “Márquez stressed. “We look forward to Le Mans.”

Pol Espargaró spent most of the time in a heap on the ground today, his normally rapid movement hindered by the slippery pitch. The Honda rider drove 85 laps and in the end the Spaniard was happy with today’s test. “We had to do a lot of rounds to understand everything, and it went well. Data is so important in MotoGP,” Pol explained. “No matter what you try on a test, you always make progress. We have tried many things, some things are positive, others negative. “

Twelfth place in the world championship continues: “Of course you want to be faster, but I am happy with the laps we could run on intermediate tires. We are excited to see if our work at Le Mans will pay off. “
