Robert Lewandowski’s future in Bavaria is still open, negotiations are imminent. Will one of these star strikers be Lewandowski’s successor?

Munich – What’s up with Robert Lewandowski? The star striker from FC Bayern Munich has been linked with a farewell for weeks, FC Barcelona being considered a hot candidate. Sports Director Hasan Salihamidzic recently stressed that he rules out Lewandowski’s departure in the summer of 2022.

Nevertheless, of course, there is a lot of discussion and speculation: If Lewandowski finds a new club in July or August – who can be the Pole’s successor in Bavaria? There are many candidates and a number of names are circulating in the national and international media. We took a closer look at some of them (as of April 26, 2022).

Lewandowski’s successor in Bayern Munich: Erling Haaland

  • Club: Borussia Dortmund
  • Age: 21 years
  • Contract: until 2024, withdrawal clause from 2022
  • This season: 27 games, 25 goals, 8 assists
  • Market value: 150 million euros
  • Probability of a Bayern change: 2 out of 10 points

FC Bayern are trying to get BVB star Erling Haaland. At least that is what TV expert Jan Age Fjörtoft claims. Oliver Kahn had ruled out a Haaland commitment a week earlier. “Very, very far away from what we imagine in FC Bayern” is the total package, which is said to be over 300 million euros. Fjörtoft also knows: “Manchester City is in pole position.”

It is therefore very unlikely that Haaland will end up in Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski’s successor in Bayern Munich: Darwin Núñez

  • Club: Benfica Lisbon
  • Age: 22 years
  • Contract: until 2025, release clause 150 million euros
  • This season: 39 games, 33 goals, 4 assists
  • Market value: 40 million euros
  • Probability of a Bayern change: 4 out of 10 points

FC Bayern are said to have met Darwin Núñez’s adviser as early as the autumn of 2021. The striker from Uruguay is dynamic, good at dribbling and has a good shooting technique. However, Núñez would be anything but a coup for FC Bayern, 80 million euros said to be paid to the Benfica Lisbon striker.

A signing of Núñez is conceivable, although several top clubs, including Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético Madrid, are also said to be in the running.

Lewandowski’s successor in Bayern Munich: Sébastien Haller

  • Club: Ajax Amsterdam
  • Age: 27 years
  • Contract: until 2025
  • Current season: 39 games, 33 goals, 9 assists
  • Market value: 30 million euros
  • Probability of a Bayern change: 5 out of 10 points

Haller knows the Bundesliga. At Ajax, he took the next step and strikes as he pleases. Haller is not only strong in the air and extremely accurate, he also plays for the team. To PICTUREFC Bayern have already requested information from Haller’s management. In addition to FC Bayern, Inter Milan are said to be interested in Haller. FC Bayern are already in lively contact with Ajax due to the upcoming transfer of Noussair Mazraoui and the interest in Ryan Gravenberch.

Haller is slowly becoming the top candidate to succeed Lewandowski! He is currently the favorite.

Lewandowski’s successor in Bayern Munich: Romelu Lukaku

  • Club: Chelsea FC
  • Age: 28 years
  • Contract: until 2026
  • Market value: 85 million euros
  • This season: 39 games, 12 goals, 2 assists
  • Probability of a Bayern change: 2 out of 10 points

After the switch from Inter Milan to Chelsea, expectations were high. Unfortunate statements about Inter’s soon return and too little intensity against the ball in relation to Kai Havertz may be the reasons why Lukaku is currently only a substitute at Chelsea. Thomas Tuchel’s team is threatened with sold-out due to the Abramovich sanctions, and recently there was speculation that Antonio Rüdiger would switch to Real Madrid. If Bayern want a powerful, physical striker, Lukaku is more than worth considering.

Lukaku is expensive, Chelsea signed him for 115 million euros. PSG and Inter are also said to be interested. A move to Bayern Munich is therefore unlikely.

Lewandowski’s successor in Bayern Munich: Patrik Schick

  • Club: Bayer 04 Leverkusen
  • Age: 26
  • Contract: until 2025
  • Market value: 40 million euros
  • Current season: 28 games, 21 goals, 6 assists
  • Probability of a Bayern change: 4 out of 10 points

Schick has been on everyone’s lips since the European Championships. The Czech plays the season of his life with Bayer 04 Leverkusen and strikes with all parts of his body from lies. Add to that his good speed, then Schick is very dangerous after counter-attacks. The Leverkusen have equipped the Prague player with a contract without an exit clause. If FC Bayern want to be smart, they have to dig deep into their wallets. Leverkusen will reportedly have up to 75 million euros for the top scorer.

Lewandowski’s successor in Bayern Munich: Timo Werner

  • Club: Chelsea FC
  • Age: 26 years
  • Contract: until 2025
  • Market value: 42 million euros
  • This season: 34 games, 11 goals, 6 assists
  • Probability of Bayern moving: 3 out of 10

Once again telegraph reported a few weeks ago that Timo Werner could leave Chelsea this summer, with FC Bayern circulating in the media as a potential buyer. However, the national player has recently been in demand again and has started in the last six Premier League matches. Would Werner fit into FC Bayern at all? Werner is extremely fast, but FC Bayern have a lot of ball possession and often play against opponents who are deep.

Werner’s great strength can spread at Bayern, so a Lewandowski successor seems unlikely.

Lewandowski’s successor in Bayern Munich: Sasa Kalajdzic

  • Club: VfB Stuttgart
  • Age: 24 years
  • Contract: until 2023
  • Market value: 22 million euros
  • This season: 12 games, 4 goals, 2 assists
  • Probability of a Bayern change: 2 out of 10 points

Sasa Kalajdzic has missed much of the current season due to a shoulder injury. The 24-year-old is said to be “a candidate at FC Bayern”, he reports SWR. The contract for the Viennese, who still played in the Austrian regional league at the age of 18, expires in 2023.

VfB Stuttgart are said to have made an offer which Kalajdzic rejected. The fee was to be in the order of 20 million euros, for Bayern conditions, Kalajdzic would be a coup. Nevertheless, it is doubtful whether the 2-meter giant can meet the requirements of FC Bayern.

Lewandowski’s successor in Bayern Munich: Benjamin Sesko

  • Club: RB Salzburg
  • Age: 18 years
  • Contract: until 2026
  • Market value: 8 million euros
  • This season: 32 games, 9 goals, 7 assists
  • Probability of a Bayern change: 1 out of 10 points

Benjamin Sesko is athletic and has good instincts for his age. His top speed in a match against Dornbirn in the 2020/2021 season is said to have been 36.1 km / h, just below world star Kylian Mbappés!

Sesko should be in focus for Bayern bosses, but the 18-year-old Slovak should not be a problem next season. Borussia Dortmund’s interest should be much more specific.

Lewandowski’s successor in Bayern Munich: Raúl Jiménez

  • Club: Wolverhamton Wanderers
  • Age: 30 years
  • Contract: until 2024
  • Market value: 22 million euros
  • This season: 31 games, 6 goals, 4 assists
  • Probability of a Bayern change: 1 out of 10 points

A promise from Wolverhampton striker Raúl Jiménez seems absurd. The Mexican should be considered a Lewandowski follow-up, the portal reports El Futbolero. For trade reasons, it could prove to be a goldmine to sign on the Mexican.

However, it is doubtful whether a transfer to FC Bayern would also make sporting sense. Jiménez is still lagging behind in form after a skull fracture last season.

Despite all the rumors, based on Salihamidzic’s statements, it is highly likely that Lewandowski will stay in Bavaria over the summer. Joshua Zirkzee’s future will also be exciting to see. Is Bayern’s forgotten storm jewel perhaps even an alternative to Robert Lewandowski?
