Meppen saved: Bünning hits the front and his own net

Viktoria Köln and SV Meppen drew 1-1 at the end of the 35th third division match day. The focus was on guest defender Bünning, who scored twice – but once in his own goal. His team was still able to celebrate relegation after the match.

First joy, then frustration: Meppen’s Lars Bünning scored first in the opponent’s goal, then in his own goal.

After the 4-2 defeat at 1. FC Magdeburg – it was Domstädter’s last league match – Cologne’s coach Olaf Janßen made four changes in start-1: Siebert (5th yellow card), Fritz, Buballa and Philipp (5th yellow card) were replaced by May, Risse, Jastremski and Marseiler.

Meppen’s coach Rico Schmitt changed staff three times compared to 1-1 against Dortmund II: Käuper, Ametov and Guder started instead of Egerer, Hemlein and Feigenspan.

Bünning scores in Cologne’s urgent phase

The Victoria was immediately in the fight and worked with some chances. Marseiler (3rd) and Sontheimer (4th) failed, however, due to SVM goalkeeper Harsman’s good mood. Cologne remained more active, but suddenly found themselves behind: Bünning, who moved up after a set piece, skillfully pushed the ball into goal with a side kick from close range to make it 1-0 to Meppen (11th).

The hosts did not seem shocked at first. But Jastremski (15th) and Handle (18th) also found their match in Harsman. Then the match flattened out a bit, Dombrowka (37 ‘) and Risse (40’) missed two good chances just before the break.

Bünning into his own goal to make it 1-1

After the break, Cologne quickly equalized, but enjoyed an own goal: Bünning of all – who scored for his colors in the first half – headed a Sontheimer post in his own net (49 ‘).

Meppen shook briefly in itself – and now the focus was on Viktoria goalkeeper Nicolas, who got Faßbenders (58th), Guders (58th) and Bünnings (59th) degrees. After that, the game flattened out, also due to some changes and game errors on both sides. Substitute Hong gave a little stimulation, but his best chance with a header went just wide (69 ‘).

SV Meppen is finally saved and will play in the 3rd league in the coming season. Viktoria Cologne, on the other hand, still have to look down and are only five points ahead. Domstädteren plays in Halle next Saturday (14.00). At the same time, Meppen receives the Würzburger Kickers.
