3G rule, mask requirements and Co. – What applies now in the gyms. The different corona rules in the federal states in an instant.

Germany – The so-called 3G rule has been in force in Germany since Monday (23/08/2021). It stipulates that only those who have been vaccinated, those who have become healthy and those who have been tested have access to, among other things, certain events and interiors.

The Corona summit had already decided at the beginning of August that from this date and an incidence of 35 there would be a duty to test indoors. This also applies to gyms. The Corona rules for gyms differ from state to state. Also in the case of fitness studies, it must be expected that the operators will require an appointment to master the organizational effort. Below you will find an overview of all the countries’ special characteristics.

Corona rules for fitness studies in Hesse

In Hesse, with a seven-day incidence of under 35, leisure and amateur sports are allowed in all public and private sports facilities – regardless of the number of people. With regard to the required sports-specific hygiene concepts, the State of Hesse refers to the DOSB guidelines for the resumption of club-based sports activities and the recommendation of the State Sports Association. The following corona rules apply to fitness centers in Hesse:

  • Members do not have to make prior arrangements
  • It is not mandatory to wear a medical mask during exercise
  • No negative coronate test is required
  • You should keep a minimum distance of 1.5 meters

The Corona rules for gyms in Hesse are being tightened with an incidence of 35 and over. From this value, the so-called 3G rule also applies indoors. This means: Only vaccinated, genesis and tested persons may enter a gym. From an incidence of 50, the mask requirement applies.

From a seven-day incidence of 100, the corona rules in Hesse are significantly tightened. Among other things, contact restrictions in the public space will apply again. What that means for gyms has not yet been determined. Some fitness centers in Hesse are running out of air due to Corona.

Corona rules for fitness studies in Lower Saxony

In Lower Saxony, the 3G rule with the new Corona Regulation has also been in force for fitness studies since Wednesday (August 25, 2021) – if the incidence is over 50. In Lower Saxony, this incidence value marks the threshold for the first of the three new corona warning levels – yellow , orange and red. The detailed measures for the subsequent warning levels two and three have not yet been determined, but if the number of corona cases “escalates”, a reduction in contact with the unvaccinated and a 2G regulation will also be an option – it can also affect fitness studies.

Corona rules for fitness studios in Berlin

A fitness center in Berlin must also open in accordance with the hygiene regulations. Since Friday (20 August 2021), however, the 3G rule has also been applicable here – ie only access for vaccinated, healthy or tested. In addition, it must be agreed in advance. In so-called covered sports facilities, fitness and dance studios and similar facilities, a medical face mask must be worn, except during exercise. Testing is also mandatory for participating in rehabilitation sports in Berlin – you can find the exact Corona rules here.

Corona rules for fitness studies in Baden-Württemberg

Contact-free leisure and amateur sports are also generally allowed in Baden-Württemberg. In principle, the 3G rule applies – with a few exceptions: unvaccinated people do not need a corona test for rehabilitation sports, sports for official purposes and top and professional sports.

The state government uses a step-by-step model for opening gyms, saunas, swimming pools and amusement parks, which automatically takes effect five days after the stated incidence value is exceeded:

  • Incidence level 1: Incidence under 10 – no special rules for outdoor and indoor sports.
  • Incidence level 2: Occurrence between 10 and 35 – no special rules for outdoor and indoor sports.
  • Incidence level 3: Occurrence between 35 and 50 – The 3G rule comes into force, but no limit on the number of people in outdoor and indoor sports.

  • No limit on the number of participants
