Cinema, restaurant, hairdresser and sports – what do the new Corona rules mean

The first federal states are pulling the strings because the number of corona cases there has been constantly increasing for weeks. In addition, many Covid 19 patients need to be treated in the intensive care unit.

Saxony introduces 2G

In light of the growing number of new infections, Saxony is introducing the 2G rule nationwide. From Monday, only those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered will have access to restaurants and other indoor events. The State Cabinet adopted a new Corona regulation valid until 25 November. This also applies to larger events such as Christmas markets.

So far, 2G – hospitalization only for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered – has been an optional model in Saxony. Children and adolescents as well as people who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons should therefore continue to be exempt from stricter 2G regulation.

In Saxony, the seven-day incidence is currently 385.7 and thus well above the national average of almost 170. Only Thuringia has a slightly higher incidence. In addition, Saxony is at the bottom of the nationwide vaccination rate. According to the Robert Koch Institute, 68.5 percent of Bavarian adults are currently vaccinated once, and 66.3 percent are fully vaccinated. Nationwide, nearly 78 percent of adults received two doses of the vaccine.

Bavaria is dependent on 3G +

In Bavaria, 3G + (3G Plus) will apply in public life from 6 November, when the hospital’s traffic lights, which are defined by the state government, point to yellow. This happens when 450 intensive care beds are occupied nationwide. The traffic light shows red when 600 intensive care beds have been taken up nationwide. According to the current status (November 5), there are 528 intensive care beds.

This means that from 6 November in Bavaria: If you want to get your hair done at the hairdresser, work out in the gym, watch a movie in the cinema or enjoy dinner with friends, you must either have been vaccinated, recovered or tested by a PCR test. In the club, at the disco or at the brothel, even 2G applies. Unvaccinated and unrecovered persons may no longer visit these institutions.

Exceptions remain local and long-distance public transportation, supermarkets, gas stations, pharmacies, medical practices and major specialist retailers. Only the requirement for FFP2 mask and the specified minimum distances apply here. But smaller businesses like bridal shops, smaller shops and libraries can ask for proof. They are allowed to decide by domicile right whether they control the access and thus also control the customers using the 3G Plus rule.

If the number of intensive bedding drops below 450, 3G applies again. This means that those who have not been vaccinated and have not recovered need at least one cheaper rapid test.

3G + applies in Baden-Württemberg

Baden-Württemberg, on the other hand, has been using 3G Plus regulation since Monday. The country had declared the warning level after more than 250 Covid 19 patients were to be treated in intensive care units for two consecutive days.

3G Plus now applies in the cinema, theater, restaurant or fitness center. Those who have not recovered and who have not been vaccinated must then have a PCR test, which is only valid for a maximum of 48 hours from the date of issue.

3G (ie vaccinated, recovered and tested with a quick test) will at least be abolished where many people meet. Until the situation in the intensive care units relaxes. Like Bavaria, 2G applies to nightclubs, brothels and discos. Access is therefore denied to the unvaccinated and those who have not recovered.

Saxony-Anhalt

The corona infection rate in Saxony-Anhalt is also rising. Due to the high infection rate, there have been stricter test requirements for indoor areas in force in Altmarkkreis Salzwedel since Monday. Anyone who has to present a negative test by e.g. restaurant visits, can sometimes perform a self-test on site or bring a current rapid test or PCR result from a test center. A self-test performed at home is not sufficient.

Many other cities and districts are following suit and are also tightening measures. From Friday, Halle and Dessau-Roßlau will cancel the previous relaxation of the tests. The 3G rule for visits to indoor catering and leisure and cultural facilities also applies there again. This means that only those who have been vaccinated, become healthy or tested negative have access.

In the coming week, a new Corona executive order will be adopted, which will, among other things, prescribe that interior spaces must be tested if certain limit values are exceeded.

Thuringia

Thuringia is slipping into a new Corona autumn. The 2G and 3G-plus rules must be implemented in more and more regions, and access to events must be limited. The state government has decided: If the number of cases increases and many Covid 19 patients have to be treated in the intensive care unit, the municipalities in their districts must implement 2G and 3G Plus.

The highest warning level 3 has been in effect in six districts and the independent city of Gera since the weekend. These are the districts of Kyffhäuser and Ilm as well as the districts of Schmalkalden-Meiningen, Hildburghausen, Gotha and Altenburger Land. All other districts and independent cities – since Sunday also the district Nordhausen – have warning level 2.

Authorities in several regions, including the Gotha district, decreed that the 2G or 3G rules now apply to public indoor events. According to this, the 2G or 3G plus rules from warning level 3 must be implemented not only at events of all kinds, but also in the catering and hotel industry.

3G Plus and 2G: Unvaccinated people are particularly affected

Particularly affected by 3G Plus and 2G are non-vaccinated and non-genesis. You will then need a PCR test, which is only valid for a maximum of 48 hours from the date of issue. It must be checked at the entrance. In addition to proof of vaccination or proof of cure, consumers must also have an identification document with them.

Because the demand for PCR tests is increasing at the same time, the laboratories are currently only sending the results after 48 hours. In Munich, test centers require waiting times of up to three days before the result is available.

Consumers have to pay extra for express results. Spontaneous training in the gym or a short dinner with friends is then no longer possible.

Does 3G + and 2G also apply to supermarkets?

Smaller retailers such as bridal shops, shoe stores, opticians or antique shops could also use 3G Plus. Dealers can claim their residence rights.

The rule (3G, 3G Plus, 2G, 1G) does not apply to the entire food retail trade. Everyone has access here as long as they comply with the mesh and distance rules. Customers do not have to present a vaccination card.

What applies in schools?

Bayern and Baden-Württemberg are temporarily reintroducing the mask in the classroom, at least indoors.

“From November 8, the masks will be mandatory in the classroom and at the so-called meeting places in the school building, but not in the open air, ie on the playground,” explains Minister of Education Michael Piazolo. Medical masks are so mandatory for high schools, while everyday masks are adequate for elementary school children. The number of infections is particularly high among school-age children.

Piazolo also appealed to parents to perform self-tests on themselves and their children immediately before the first day of school. In Bavaria, the mask requirement in the classroom was not lifted until early October.
