How bad is Lewis Hamilton rated!

(Motorsport-Total.com) – After the second race weekend of the 2022 Formula 1 season, Charles Leclerc secured victory for the second time in the traditional award of driver ratings. According to the evaluation of the three-pillar model from Motorsport-Total.com, the Ferrari driver was the best driver at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Jeddah, documented with an overall score of 1.5.

Lewis Hamilton finished only 17th out of 20 drivers according to the rating in Saudi Arabia

A total of four drivers were each given a grade of 1/2 by the expert Marc Surer and the editors: Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez (1 by Surer, 2 by the editors) and Kevin Magnussen (2 by Surer, 1 by the editors). This means that the decision was made by voting of the 799 users who also submitted their ratings.

And Leclerc came out a little better with an average grade of 1.4 than Verstappen (1.6), Perez (1.9) and Magnussen (2.1). According to Surer, Magnussen was “strong again” during the second comeback appearance, and unfortunate Perez gets grade 1 of him “for pole. The qualification was his weakness last year.”

Surer gave a total of eight drivers the grade 2. Among them Valtteri Bottas (5th), who in his opinion “had again shown a strong race”; George Russell (6th), whom he attests to a “constant achievement”; Pierre Gasly (7th), “in spite of the pain”; and Fernando Alonso (9th), about whom the former Formula 1 driver says: “The duel with Ocon had great entertainment value.”

Incidentally, Nicholas Latifi received one of the worst overall grades in the history of the Motorsport-Total.com model, for whom both Surer (“Crashing two times is too much”) and the editors (unanimously) gave the grade 6. By the way: Surer failed to give a note to Yuki Tsunoda and Mick Schumacher, who did not participate in the race.

The negative surprise of the race weekend was probably Lewis Hamilton, who not only performed disappointingly because of his material, but also within the team compared to Russell. The bottom line is there is P17 for the Mercedes driver. The race was “quite good”, Surer analyzes, but: “The training performance was not acceptable.”

that The idea behind our grading is to evaluate performance on a weekend and especially during grades (1 = very good, 6 = unsatisfactory). External influences that drivers cannot control themselves should be ignored. And so that not only the editorial staff has to make a subjective assessment, as is the case with football magazines, we have created a total of three equal columns with the readers and the experts.

And this is how we calculate:
We determine the average based on the average rating of Motorsport-Total.com users, the rating of the expert Marc Surer and the rating of our editors. Our driver ranking is the result of this average value. We only show one decimal, but we use all decimals for the calculation. These decimals, some of which are not visible, determine the order in which two drivers are ranked if they have the same rating.
